theoutage: Self-built house of the week! It’s the home of “Hardworkinghippy” and Fabrice, who run a goat farm and live completely off-the-grid. Highlights include ultra-low-wattage LED lighting, home-made clay floor tiles, and a sloped chimney (“to trap heat for the drying cupboard in the dressing room”). Fantastic home. Fantastic life. But how do you get there from here? From this beige, sunless cubicle to a sun-drenched garden? From our dank basement apartment, buried in suburban DC hell, to a glowing cabin, hidden between the trees?
